Intro to Doula Workshop

The M0M Center is presenting a workshop to explore the vast role of the Birth & Bereavement Doula®.  With the Christmas season upon us, this is a wonderfully appropriate time to discover what it means to walk with grief in the midst of joy, to carry hope and heartache all at the same time.

Participants will be able to:

  • Engage in scenario exploration: serving as a doula alongside a family during labor and consider the many variables that may present themselves during this time, as well as how to navigate them.
  • Explore options for the family during the Welcoming, the reasons for them, the reasons for presenting them, how to present them, and how to move forward with every choice the family decides.
  • Consider the many variables involved during the Labor, the Welcoming, the Farewell, the Longterm Healing Journey, and how these variables all weave together.
  • Identify the stillbirthday guideposts in coming alongside families.

Our shared time together will include:

  • Group dialogue
  • Didactic teaching
  • Hands On activities
  • Craft

The hands on activities include the opportunity to experience holding medically accurate mannequins of various gestational ages and sizes, as well as the opportunity to experience temperature maintenance as well as press keepsakes.
